This bowl was made on the potter's wheel. crushed calcite and sand were wedged into the stoneware clay body and formed on the potter’s wheel. It was then altered to create distinct textures and facets, then brushed with a flashing slip. The interior of the teabowl is glazed with Shino and atmospherically fired in a soda-kiln to ^11, 2345 F. I love the way the glaze breaks on the vertical altered lines of this piece.

Height: 3.5 in.
Width: 5 in.

I am an avid traveler and collect seashells, sand, ash, rocks and clay from the places I visit and incorporate them into my work. Each pot tells a unique story. This particular piece, uses calcite from seashells and sand collected in the San Juan islands.

This teabowl is dishwasher safe and great for everyday use.
